The 7th CCED Oman Student Awards for the Advancement of Postgraduate Education are now open for 2024 submissions. Initiated by CC Energy Development (CCED), one of Oman’s largest independent oil producers, these awards highlight the critical importance of postgraduate education in driving innovation through research and industry collaboration.

The CCED Oman Student Awards have been pivotal in advancing winners into senior roles within Oman’s leading industrial companies and influential positions in the public sector. This year, the awards continue to offer an exceptional opportunity for outstanding postgraduate students: a paid internship at CCED. This unique experience allows recipients to gain practical insights and bridge the gap between academic research and industry practice, providing a crucial steppingstone for significant career advancement.

Walter Simpson, Managing Director of CCED, emphasised the urgency of investing in postgraduate talent. "These postgraduate students are the key to our future innovation and leadership. Without rapid investment in their development, we risk falling behind in the global knowledge economy. By supporting their growth now, we ensure that we stay at the forefront of technological and industrial progress, creating lasting value and growth within our communities.”

In an era where rapid advancements in sustainability are paramount, the need for innovative ideas and substantial investments in upskilling and reskilling both Omani and international workers is pressing. Stakeholders have underscored the critical need for accelerated communication and collaboration among educators, industry leaders, government bodies, and society. Without swift action, we risk missing the opportunity to build a knowledge-based economy capable of meeting Oman’s ambitious Net Zero by 2050 goal. The CCED Oman Student Awards provide a vital platform for postgraduate students to contribute to this urgent mission and advance their professional futures.
