MUSCAT, September 15

The Oman Racket Sports Committee (ORSC) recently unveiled its new visual identity, including a new logo. Established in July 2023, the committee also launched the official logo for the upcoming West Asian Junior Badminton Championship, which will be hosted in Muscat from October 2 at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. Both logos were unveiled on the committee’s social media channels across various platforms.

"ORSC worked closely with an experienced team to find a logo that reflects its goals and interests in both sports. The logo needed to be simple yet effective in communicating the committee's identity to the sporting community. The final design was selected from five options, all representing the committee’s clear vision," said Khalid al Sulaimani, board member of ORSC and head of marketing and identity.

"The logo of the West Asia Junior Badminton Championship highlights the broader role sports play in fostering unity. This is a message especially important for Oman given its emphasis on peace, cultural harmony, and sportsmanship. The upcoming championship, which is the first of its kind in Oman, is set to be the largest in West Asia’s badminton history," he added.

The new identity of ORSC will mark a significant milestone and a strong start for the committee, reflecting the remarkable growth in badminton and squash since its establishment in July 2023. The committee’s logo was designed to represent both sports, integrating visual elements that embody the essence of both sports in a harmonious and unique design.

As the committee gears up to host the West Asia Junior Badminton Championship, the logo was launched. The published logo symbolizes unity and sportsmanship across the region, combining the colors of the participating nations with imagery from badminton, illustrating how the sport fosters cultural unity and connection among countries in the region.

UNIQUE HARMONY

Abdulmajeed al Abri, the designer of the committee’s logo, said that the design integrates elements of both squash and badminton, featuring a combination of visual cues from each sport.

"The upper part of the logo is shaped by components from a badminton shuttlecock, while the lower part incorporates the distinct shape of a squash racket, focusing on its unique angles," he explained.

CULTURAL UNITY

Ruqaya Khalaf al Maamari, the designer of the championship logo, said that the logo offers a unique glimpse into the spirit of the event. "The logo reinforces cultural unity in the region. The design captures the essence of the tournament with elements from badminton while also reflecting the cultural diversity of West Asia through its colors," she said.

"The design not only represents the sport but also underscores the values of unity and cooperation among the participating nations, fostering a sense of connection and camaraderie during the event," she added.
