Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning said the schools in the Sultan Haitham City will have creative architectural designs that reflect the modern features of the educational environment to provide a comprehensive and sustainable educational system.
The ministry noted that the design of the schools is based on the concept of the school complexes and each complex comprises 3 schools for different stages. The school facilities include green spaces, playgrounds, swimming pools as well as other facilities that help develop the creative and innovative skills of future generations. Each school complex accommodates 2,300 students.
Each school within the school complexes represents a model of the so-called educational home, a flexible educational unit comprising multiple classrooms. The schools include dedicated spaces for innovative laboratories, resource centres, music rooms, theatres all of which support diverse learning and extracurricular activities.
The design of the schools enhances student interaction within the school environment through common spaces, break areas, canteens and multi-purpose rooms to encourage and enrich the educational experience.
The roofs of the schools contain green gardens designed for outdoor learning and recreational purposes. The gardens are environmentally friendly with a natural thermal insulation system and provide a multi-use educational environment including sports fields and spaces for various activities.
The schools in the Sultan Haitham City Public Schools have a unique design with central green space that enhances the educational and social experience and allows for a variety of activities. In addition, the design ensures the provision of multi-faceted educational environments that support interaction and sustainable learning.
