MUSCAT: Red Warriors are looking to fight back against South Korea on Tuesday at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in the second games of AFC Asian Qualifiers — Road to 26 after the loss against Iraq 1-0 last Thursday.
Oman national team players reported back to the daily training sessions at Royal Court Affairs stadium in Al Khoudh on Saturday night under the watchful eyes of head coach Jaroslav Silhavy.
The Czech coach is busy finding a suitable replacement for the middle player Arshad al Alawi who received two yellow cards in the Iraq game besides the injuries of Mohammed al Musallami and Ahmed al Khamisi who are under direct medical team supervision to decide on their readiness and participation on Korean game. It is expected that Arshad will be replaced by Abdullah Fawaz.
Oman team is relying on the home crowd in the upcoming game after the disappointing start in the opening game. It will not be an easy game considering that South Korea was held to a goalless draw against Palestine in Seoul city. The visitors will have the same aim to bounce back in Tuesday’s clash which is expected to be very tough between both teams.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and Oman Football Association (OFA) under the national campaign “We are all with you” sent many messages in the social media requesting for crowd support for the key match.
On the other side, South Korea team arrived in Muscat and commenced their training sessions in Muscat at Seeb Stadium.
Oman team is looking to rekindle the memories of the last game between both teams in Muscat in 2003 during the Asian Cup qualifiers as Oman had won by 3-1.
Coach Silhavy affirmed in his latest comments to the media that he will work hard for a better show in the forthcoming game. “Thanks to the players for their hard-fighting performance during the opening game and we are looking for a better show in the next match against South Korea,” he said.
