MUSCAT: The Royal Cavalry's mare ‘Sawarim’, snatched the second place in the fifth round for a distance of 2,100 metres, which was allocated to purebred Arabian horses aged four years. The race was held at the Toulouse racecourse in France and was held under the leadership of jockey Michael Forrest and the supervision of trainer Frederic Sanchaz.
The Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation concluded the equestrian events in Dhofar Khareef 2024, at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex in Salalah under the auspices of Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, in the presence of Sayyid Mundhir bin Saif al Busaidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation.
The horse ‘Ghazi Al Ghawazi’ was crowned the title of the endurance race for 100 km, ridden by Noah al Balushi, owned and trained by Hussein al Balushi. The horse ‘HM Love Kuwait’, won second place ridden by Mohammed al Fouri, and was trained by Sarah al Hanaeiyah. The horse “Aida” finished third, ridden by Mohammed al Shamsi, and trained by Mohammed al Dhahli.
Sultan of Oman's Armoured (A) and (B) team respectively were the champions of tent pegging competition. The third place was snatched by Fursan Oman School.
As for general ranking in the horseback archery competition, knight Mohammed al Attar claimed the first place with a total of 42.5 points, Hilal al Jabri won the second with a total of 32.44 points, and Sami al Haddadi finished third with a total of 30.98 points.
The Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation is taking part in the draw of the fifth edition of the World Nomadic Games, Astana 2024, in Kazakhstan with the participation of 100 riders from 21 countries. The Oman team will compete in three games from September 7 to 13 in Astana city.
Oman national horseback archery team will be represented by Asaad bin Salem al Badri, team manager, rider, and trainer Mohammed bin Najib al Attar, the knight Hilal bin Sultan al Jabri, the knight Sami bin Ali al Haddadi, the knight Mahmoud bin Suleiman al Sharani, and the knight Saif bin Issa al Maamari.
