MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT), represented by the National Centre for AI & Advanced Technologies - National Space Programme, participated in the 'New Horizons in Space Between Africa and the Middle East' conference organized by the Egyptian Space Agency in El Alamein, as part of the official programme of the Egypt International Airshow 2024.
The conference aims to enhance international cooperation to support emerging space programs in the region, discuss mechanisms to promote space sustainability, and showcase models of cooperation between the public and private sectors to develop the space industry.
The Director General of the National Space Program at the MTCIT participated in a panel discussion, where he talked about the National Space Programme's experience in fostering international partnerships and cooperation to achieve the program’s objectives, citing examples of real projects resulting from this collaboration.
The Ministry also took part in the Arab Space Cooperation Group meeting, chaired by Egypt during this session, represented by the Egyptian Space Agency. The group discussed several topics, including the development of an Arab space sector strategy to maximize the benefits from initiatives undertaken by various countries through the development of a common vision and strategic objectives.
It is worth noting that the Sultanate of Oman is a member and founding partner of the Arab Space Cooperation Group, which was established by the UAE Space Agency, and ratified the group’s charter in 2020.
