Higher education minister explores academic cooperation with France

Muscat: Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, paid an official visit to the French Republic, accompanied by a number of officials and university chancellors with the aim of enhancing academic and research cooperation between the two countries.

The minister of higher education, research and innovation visited several educational institutions and innovative business incubators. She was briefed on the innovative educational system at the Ecole 42, a teacher-less innovation-based educational institution that applies self-learning approach and collaborative training without the need for teachers or traditional educational setting and is specialized in information technology and artificial intelligence.


The Minister also visited the headquarters of Station F, the world’s largest business incubator that houses more than 1,000 emerging companies. The visit was aimed at enhancing cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and France in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation.

The minister met with Omani students studying in France at the Omani Embassy in Paris and listened to the challenges they face and ways to overcome them. The meeting discussed the importance of developing students’ practical and scientific skills as well as the need to provide training opportunities in the French private sector to enhance their experiences and prepare them for successful careers.


This visit comes within the framework of the Sultanate of Oman’s efforts to foster academic and research cooperation with France to benefit from pioneering global experiences in developing the higher education system and innovation.
