Oman’s total electricity production increases

MUSCAT: The total electricity production of the Sultanate of Oman until the end of June 2024 recorded a 0.3% increase to reach 20,391.5 gigawatts per hour compared to 20,328.9 gigawatts per hour during the same period in 2023.


Statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information showed that the governorates of Al Batinah North and Al Batinah South and Al Dhahirah recorded a total production of 11,947.5 gigawatts per hour, a decrease of 6.2% compared to the end of June 2023. The total production in Muscat Governorate increased by 82.9% to reach 308.8 gigawatts per hour, while it increased in Dhofar Governorate by 17.4% to reach 2,886.2 gigawatts per hour.


Total production in Al Sharqiyah North and Al Sharqiyah South governorates increased by 7.9 per cent to reach 4913.3 gigawatts per hour, while total production in Al Wusta Governorate decreased by 30.6 per cent to reach 79 gigawatts per hour, and in Musandam Governorate, total production increased by 4.9 per cent to record 213.6 gigawatts per hour.


Statistics indicated that the net electricity production of the Sultanate of Oman until the end of June 2024 decreased by 1.3 per cent to reach 19424.5 gigawatts per hour.


On the other hand, statistics showed that the total amount of water produced in the Sultanate of Oman amounted to about 248.366 million cubic metres by the end of June 2024, compared to 255.848 million cubic metres in the same period in 2023.
