Family Sports Carnival held at Al Qurm Natural Park

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, represented by the General Directorate of Sports Activities, organised a family sports carnival at Al Qurm Natural Park on Friday.


The event comes as part of the ministry's efforts to promote sports and physical activity among family members, including a variety of sports and entertainment events that meet the needs of all age groups.


The sports carnival featured several diverse sections, including theatre events section which presented distinctive entertainment shows, and the entertainment section included exciting carnival games. The carnival also included a section dedicated to bicycles and a walking track, allowing families to enjoy outdoor sports.


The carnival also included a sports medicine section that provided medical examinations and weight measurements for participants, in addition to a sports corner that provided sports equipment for exercise. The organisers did not neglect the entertainment aspect for children, as the carnival included a section for face painting and photography with beloved characters, in addition to virtual reality (VR) section that attracted the attention of many attendees.


Zayana al Yaarubiya, Director of the Department of Specialised Activities at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, indicated that the sports carnival aims to target all segments of society, including parents and school students, and coincides with the beginning of the new school year. She added that the goal of organising the event is to raise awareness by practicing sports with the start of the school year, as the period after the summer vacation is an ideal time to motivate students to return to school with a sporty and positive spirit.



Al Yaarubiya explained that the preparation for this event was carried out with great care to include a variety of corners and activities targeting all members of society in general, with a special focus on families and school students.


The carnival included various sports competitions and opportunities to compete in a fun atmosphere, in addition to corners dedicated to productive families to display their local products and support them economically.


Al Yarubiya pointed out that the moderate weather at this time of year makes holding outdoor events more attractive and necessary, which enhances social cohesion and encourages community participation. She stressed that the carnival contributes to enhancing integration between different age and cultural groups, which adds diversity and strength to the event.


Saeed al Maawali, Marketing Director at Real Madrid Academy, expressed his happiness with the great success of the event, noting that its timing was ideal for families and participants to enjoy various activities in a festive sporting atmosphere. He stressed that the academy's participation in the carnival comes within its commitment to providing a professional sports environment for children and youth, where parents can register their children to benefit from advanced training programs aimed at developing their sports skills according to the international standards of Real Madrid Club.


Dr Afrah al Jabri from the Department of Medicine and Sports Sciences also praised the family sports carnival, stressing that this event represents an important opportunity to interact with different segments of society and spread health awareness. She explained that the department's participation in the event was part of the medical coverage, as a range of medical services were provided, which contributed to raising awareness of the importance of following up on physical health.


Al Jabri pointed out that the event witnessed a large turnout of children and youth who showed great interest in practicing sports activities, which added additional value to the event and made it a fruitful experience for everyone.
