HAIMA: (ONA) – Al Wusta Governorate, with its 550-kilometer coastline, natural resources, and moderate climate, is emerging as a compelling investment destination for both local and international investors. The governorate offers promising opportunities across various sectors, including oil, tourism, logistics, and fisheries.
The Al Wusta branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry is actively working to foster an investment-friendly environment and promote the governorate through numerous programs and initiatives. A prime example is the 5th Duqm Forum, scheduled for October 20, 2024, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center in Muscat, with the theme "Blue Economy: The New Frontier for Investment."
Organized in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, the forum will bring together international experts, investors, and companies specializing in blue economy investments.
Shura Council Member Dr Salim bin Salim al Junaibi, who is also Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Al Wusta Governorate, and the general supervisor of the forum, emphasized the chamber's ongoing efforts to promote the governorate's investment climate through coordination with relevant authorities.
In a statement to ONA, Dr Al Junaibi highlighted that the forum will delve into the blue economy, a crucial sector for the national economy. The forum will feature discussions on three main axes: the foundations and strategies for investing in the blue economy, investment opportunities in the blue economy within the food security, logistics, tourism, and renewable energy sectors in Oman, and global technologies and experiences that enhance investments in the blue economy.
He noted that Al Wusta Governorate's strategic location, overlooking the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, positions it as a maritime trade gateway for international goods and a logistics hub for commercial ship manufacturing and maintenance. Additionally, the governorate's abundant fish resources present significant investment opportunities in the fisheries, refineries, and petrochemicals sectors. Dr Al Junaibi affirmed that Al Wusta Governorate is poised to become the future of blue economy investments across all its facets.
