Muscat, August 27
Students will start getting select services under Unified Admissions which is to start next week. The scheme aligns with the recent announcement of admission results and the commencement of registration procedures for the new academic year.
The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, through the General Directorate of Missions, has initiated visits to various private higher education institutions.
These visits aim to oversee the registration process for general education diploma students, support the efforts of these institutions, and ensure a smooth onboarding process for students delegated this year.
The Higher Education Admission Centre has revealed the results for the first round of admissions for the 2024/2025 academic year, with a total of 27,178 accepted male and female students.
Following the announcement, students were given a window to select their preferred institutions for flexible internal missions. This selection was available through their registration pages on the unified admission system from Wednesday, August 21, to Sunday, August 25. Students who applied within this timeframe received a response from the respective institutions.
If the number of applicants exceeds an institution's capacity, a comparison of applicants is conducted according to the criteria outlined in the student guide for higher education admissions. Students who are not accepted into their chosen institution for any reason have the right to select another institution within the remaining registration period.
The Admission Centre also announced a new service for students who may have made errors in their selections. This service will be available from Monday, September 2, to Wednesday, September 4, for all students, including those who received offers in the first round, those who did not receive an offer, or those who had not previously registered in the system.
To utilise this service, students must meet specific conditions, including the availability of a vacant seat in the desired study programme and a competitive average that meets or exceeds the lowest average accepted in the first round for that programme.
Additionally, the centre emphasised that students with non-Omani certificates whose final results were released after the first round should immediately contact the centre and provide the necessary documentation.
For students in the second round, a special admission process will be conducted after their final results are announced, ensuring their eligibility to compete for academic programmes they initially registered for.
A ministry source highlighted that these measures are designed to simplify the registration process and provide maximum opportunities for students to make informed choices aligned with their academic goals and future aspirations.
The centre plans to announce any remaining vacancies for academic programmes for the second round of admissions in early November 2024 and will provide updates on other registration and acceptance timelines as necessary.
Students are encouraged to stay informed about the latest developments through the centre's official communication channels and to complete their registration promptly according to the procedures established by each institution.
