Salalah: To boost investment in Dhofar, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning signed 31 usufruct contracts valued at RO22 million, covering an area of more than 2.3 billion square meters.


The plots will be used for a diverse range of projects across the agricultural, industrial, medical, commercial, and residential-commercial sectors.


A significant portion of these agreements — 25 contracts are allocated to the agricultural sector, with investments of RO19.5 million.


These projects will cover approximately 11.6 acres including the establishment of the Omani Agricultural Association in Thumrait.


This facility, spanning 42,000 square meters, will serve as the association’s headquarters, a logistics center, and a service hub.


In addition to the agricultural initiatives, the Ministry has finalized four land use agreements for projects within the industrial, medical, and residential-commercial sectors. collectively valued at more than RO3 million, occupying a total area of 22,500 square meters.


The contracts were signed in the presence of Eng. Hamad bin Ali al Nazwani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for Housing.


The event was attended by key stakeholders, including representatives from the Oman Investment Authority, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, and the Najd Agricultural Area Development Office.


Ahmed Said Ali al Maashani, Director of the Lands Department in Dhofar, said, “We have successfully signed a series of usufruct contracts between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and various investors for sustainable projects, particularly those aimed at bolstering food security. This accomplishment is the result of strong collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, and the Oman Investment Authority. The 31 contracts, valued collectively at over OMR 22 million, cover more than 49 million square meters, equivalent to 11,809 acres, and are distributed across three contracts in the Wilayat of Salalah and 28 in the Najd Agricultural Area.”


Al-Maashani further noted that these agreements are part of a broader governmental strategy to advance food security and sustainable development within the Sultanate.


The Najd Agricultural Area, in particular, has been identified as a key region for the development of agriculture and agro projects.
