MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has unveiled its annual report for 2023, showcasing remarkable strides in the realm of digital transformation and government service optimisation. The report provides a comprehensive overview of the achievements under the 2021-2025 Digital Government Programme, focusing on the simplification of procedures and performance measurement.

One of the standout accomplishments of the year was the simplification of government services. The MTCIT successfully streamlined 578 services, surpassing the target of 517 services. Notably, 41 per cent of these services were simplified through initiatives led by Manjam Labs, which played a crucial role in this transformative process. Additionally, 207 services were digitalised in 2023, reflecting a significant shift towards more efficient, technology-driven service delivery.

The report also details the total number of recorded operations and licensing services, which stands at 2,869. This figure is an integral part of the executive plan for the Digital Government Transformation. Out of these, 1,731 services were identified as priority targets, representing 80 per cent of the total. Furthermore, 1,138 of these operations pertain to licensing, achieving 100 per cent of the priority targets set in the executive plan.

The MTCIT’s annual report highlights the significant progress made towards achieving the objectives of the 2021-2025 Programme, reflecting a robust performance measurement framework. This framework is designed to track and evaluate the effectiveness of digital government initiatives, ensuring that strategic goals are met and that services are continuously improved to better serve the public.

The MTCIT’s annual report not only marks a year of substantial achievement but also sets a promising precedent for the future of digital governance in Oman. As the ministry continues to advance its digital transformation agenda, these efforts are expected to further streamline governmental processes and enhance the overall user experience for citizens.
