Muscat: Oman’s para athletes Mohammed bin Jameel al Mashaykhi and Sara al Anbouri will represent the Sultanate of Oman at the Paris 2024 Paralympics which will begin on August 28 and will run until September 8. Mohammed al Mashaykhi, Olympic silver medalist, will compete at the Men's Shot Put - F32 event. Al Mashaykhi is the first competitor representing Oman to win a medal at the Paralympic Games when he had claimed silver in the F32 shot put at the 2020 Games in Tokyo. Furthermore, he also had won a silver medal at the world championships when he had ended as runner-up to claim silver in the F32 shot put at the 2017 edition of World Para Athletics Championships in London, England.

He had received the Royal Commendation Medal, Second Class, in last January 2024. The prestigious honour was a tribute to his outstanding contributions and pivotal roles in sports. The hopes are very high that Mohammed can rekindle the memories of Tokyo 2020 Games by registering an outstanding result and achieving another medal for Oman in this top global profile event.

The other para athlete Sara al Anbouri will take part in the Women's Shot Put - F40 event. This is the debut presence for Sara to compete at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. She began training in Para athletics throwing events in December 2017. She will work hard to register top show in her initial historic participation at Paralympic Games.
