The 'Azm' exhibition, which showcases efforts to integrate and empower individuals with disabilities in Omani society, was launched on Tuesday under the auspices of Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality.

The Directorate General for Social Development in Dhofar Governorate is hosting the exhibition at the Salalah Grand Mall. This display is not just another event on the Khareef Dhofar festival calendar; it symbolises the Omani government's commitment to fostering inclusivity and providing equal opportunities for all citizens.

The exhibition features professional rehabilitation products created by individuals with disabilities, highlighting their talents, skills, and determination. It provides these individuals with an opportunity to showcase their capabilities and allows the broader community to recognize and appreciate the value they bring to society.

This event is a testament to the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Social Development and other key stakeholders to promote the social and economic inclusion of people with disabilities. By offering a platform for these individuals to present their work, the 'Azm' exhibition challenges stereotypes and breaks down barriers that often marginalize people with disabilities. It aims to inspire not only the participants but also the audience, encouraging a shift in perspective that acknowledges the abilities and potential of every individual, regardless of physical or mental challenges.

Mohammed al Kalbani, Director General of Social Development in the Dhofar Governorate, told the Observer that one of the primary objectives of the Ministry of Social Development within the five-year plan is to enhance the empowerment of persons with disabilities in the field of vocational rehabilitation. He explained that the exhibition aims to achieve this goal by showcasing products made by persons with disabilities through the vocational rehabilitation programs offered by the Al-Wafa Rehabilitation Centers.

Furthermore, the timing of the exhibition during the Khareef Dhofar festival, a season that attracts thousands of visitors to the region, underscores the importance of inclusivity in all aspects of society. The festival, known for its lush monsoon rains and vibrant cultural events, serves as an ideal backdrop for this exhibition, blending the celebration of natural beauty with the celebration of human potential.

The 'Azm' exhibition also tells stories — stories of perseverance, creativity, and the unyielding human spirit. Each product on display is the result of countless hours of hard work, overcoming obstacles, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible. These are stories that deserve to be told, shared, and celebrated.

As the exhibition opens its doors, it invites everyone to take part in a journey of discovery and learning. It calls on the community to support and uplift its members, recognizing that the strength of a society lies in its ability to embrace diversity and promote equality. In doing so, the "Azm" exhibition contributes to the larger narrative of building a more inclusive and compassionate Oman.
