Flight services at Salalah Airport were temporarily affected on Saturday night due to extremely low visibility issues and prevailing weather conditions in the governorate.
Delays in departures started from SalamAir flight to Muscat (OV10) which left at 12.26 am, against its scheduled departure of 9.55 pm.
Subsequently, Oman Air flights (WY3902 and WY3922, WY3912), and Qatar Airways (QR1131) all had delayed departures.
Late Arrivals
The departure delays were due to late arrivals of the incoming flights.
Oman Air flight (WY302) from Muscat had to be diverted while SalamAir (OV107) and Qatar Airways (QR1130) arrived late.
Oman Air (WY921) was also diverted while WY3905 and WY 3909 were delayed.
Normalcy resumed with the on-time arrival of Flynas at 11.45 pm.
"Due to the temporary closure of Salalah International Airport caused by adverse weather conditions, all of our scheduled flights between Salalah and Muscat are experiencing delays. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our guests and are making every effort to minimize disruptions," Oman Air said in a statement.
According to local sources, visibility at Salalah and the rest of the Dhofar Governorate can be extremely low due to fog conditions, especially at night and early morning hours.
Forecast for Sunday
Cloudy to partly cloudy along the coasts of Dhofar governorate and adjoining mountains with intermittent drizzle and chance of convective clouds with isolated rain and occasionally thundershowers associated with downdraft over parts of Dhofar governorate and desert areas.
