MUSCAT: Aiming to develop and refine the leadership skills of young Omani leaders from various sectors, the Royal Academy of Management recently launched the ‘Future Leaders Programme’ in collaboration with Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), GLOBIS Europe, Matterz Business Group, and KAOSPILOT.
The initiative was founded on His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s vision to provide the nation’s current and future leaders with the capabilities and skills to make impactful and meaningful contributions within their organisation and the nation, as outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
The ‘Future Leaders Programme’ represents a significant milestone in empowering the next generation of leaders across Oman to drive transformative and positive change and achieve sustainable development across the public and private sectors. By inspiring a culture of innovation within institutions, it aims to significantly enhance participants’ readiness to navigate rapidly evolving conditions.
The six-month programme comprises three in-person modules and three talent labs. It kicks off with the ‘Discover’ module, which focuses on enhancing leadership skills, strategic framing, and work ethics. This is followed by ‘Foresee’ module, designed to explore successful and advanced international practices and rapid technological changes. ‘Pioneer’ module focuses on leadership at work and influence, and business-success-oriented mindset and drives achievement. All modules are crafted to develop future-focused skills and integrate international best practices among the participants.
The programme also includes a visit to Japan, where participants will explore a range of educational and entrepreneurial institutions and engage with Japanese leaders to exchange insights and experiences.
The visit will address essential topics such as rapid technological advancements, change management strategies, and the development of creativity and innovation skills in the workplace, alongside sustainable leadership practices.
This journey is intended to broaden participants’ horizons, enhance their global perspective, and immerse them in diverse experiences and culture. The initiative offers fresh ideas and insights for the participants to apply in their professional and personal lives.
Dr Fathiya al Rashdi, Vice-President for Programme Affairs at the Royal Academy of Management, said, “The Future Leaders Programme embodies the Academy’s vision of developing young national leaders capable of innovation and positively impacting their communities. Empowering today’s youth is an investment in Oman’s bright future. She added, “We hope this initiative will build a robust network of young leaders who can collaborate to address future challenges and achieve sustainable development goals.”
The programme targets 50 young Omani professionals aged between 25 and 34 from both the public and private sectors, including employees of small and medium-sized companies, startups and freelancers.
The programme will take them on a knowledge journey that includes intensive learning sessions, interactive workshops and practical training, addressing real-world challenges and learning from local and international leadership experiences. The programme is expected to achieve several key objectives, including enhancing leadership competencies, developing innovative problem-solving strategies, fostering self-awareness and teamwork, and cultivating a culture of innovation within institutions.
As part of its strategic partnership with leading experts in leadership and management, the programme offers participants a unique opportunity to engage with top leaders from Oman and around the world. This valuable interaction is aimed at broadening their perspectives, enhancing their professional networks and strengthening their ability to effect positive change within their workplaces and communities.
