Muscat: The Made-in-Oman school buses produced by Karwa Motors will hit the roads this academic year.
"As the school bus replacement project is under implementation, Karwa buses will enter service starting from the beginning of the new academic year according to the approved plan, and the project will continue for the next five years,” the company said in a statement.
The MoU aims to replace old vehicles with Karwa school buses with specifications at the rate of 1,000 buses per year, which will also be available in the local market from the beginning of 2024.
Last year, Karwa Motors signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Education and Oman Development Bank to supply buses for government schools.
Karwa Automotive announced the launch of a modern school bus in September 2023, designed according to the highest safety standards to ensure the safety of students during transportation.
Buses are equipped with the latest safety devices and systems that are compatible with the "Safety Path" system approved by the Ministry of Education.
The buses accommodate 23 students and are compatible with the Gulf Cooperation Council standards.
It is also equipped with internal and external surveillance cameras, safe organization of passenger seats, the presence of an emergency exit and a clear view for the driver and passengers, an automatic fire extinguishing system, high-quality and high-performance air conditioning, a safety lock on the doors, and a distinctive design for the side doors with a sensor system.
The school bus will include first aid boxes, engine sensors, an external sensor system, a bus tracking system via GPS technology, and a driver performance monitoring system.
Karwa Motors will provide necessary spare parts for 10 years, in addition to the maintenance and after-sales services in all governorates
