As the summer break is soon coming to an end, teachers, students, and parents are getting ready for the new school year. Each group has its own expectations and challenges, highlighting the importance of being both academically and emotionally prepared for the year ahead.

For many students, going back to school brings a mix of excitement and anxiety. They are excited to see friends and learn new things, but they also worry about academic pressures, new teachers, unfamiliar surroundings, and transitioning from the freedom of summer to a structured school routine.

"I can't wait to see my friends, but I'm nervous about the new classes and teachers," shares Fatima, a high school student. "It's hard to get back into a routine after such a long break. I used to stay up late. How will I wake up early again after three months?" she adds with concern.

While students focus on getting new uniforms and school supplies, their emotional well-being is equally important. Many students need help managing stress and adapting to the changes ahead.

Teachers also face challenges as they prepare for the new school year. They need to be ready to meet the needs of their students, create a positive learning environment, and take care of their well-being.

"Each year brings a unique group of students with different needs. It's important to be prepared mentally and physically," says Mohammed, an elementary school teacher. "Creating a safe and supportive environment for students is crucial." Teachers prepare by gathering resources, setting up classrooms, and planning lessons. However, their emotional readiness is just as important, as they need to stay positive and energetic throughout the year.

Some parents and teachers focus on personalised school supplies. Faisal Mubarak, a teacher and father, says, "I spent a month finding the right supplies for my children and myself. I like personalised items like pencil cases and notebooks with their photos and positive quotes. It makes me feel ready and happy, and my kids are excited to show off their unique supplies to their friends."

Parents play a key role in preparing their children for the school year, both physically and emotionally. They make sure their kids have what they need for school and also help them prepare mentally for the challenges ahead.

"My main concern is making sure my son feels confident and ready for the new school year," says Alia, a mother of two. "We talk about his feelings a lot, making sure he's not just prepared with supplies but also mentally ready for what's coming."

Ali, a father of three, adds, "I focus on getting my kids mentally ready for school, especially after they've had unlimited screen time all summer. A break from screens before school starts is essential."

Parents also need to be emotionally prepared to support their children throughout the school year. This includes managing their stress, creating a positive home environment that encourages learning, and wisely using their time and their children's time.

As the school year approaches, it's clear that back-to-school preparations involve more than just buying supplies and making schedules. Students, teachers, and parents all have their challenges, and being emotionally and mentally prepared is just as important as being physically ready.

By addressing these different perspectives, the transition into the new school year can be smoother and more successful for everyone involved.
