MUSCAT, AUGUST 12

Al Wehda team, representing Sohar Club in Al Batinah North Governorate, was crowned champion of the 2024 'Support Your Team' Amateur League for the first time in its history, after winning the final match against Al Muladdah team, representing Al Musannah Club in Al Batinah South Governorate, with a score of 1-0 in the match held at Seeb Stadium.

The final match was sponsored by Basil bin Ahmed al Rawas, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Sports and Youth, and in the presence of Salim al Wahaibi, Chairman of the Oman Football Association.

The match started with attacks by Al Wehda Club, while Al Muladdah relied on a defensive style and quick counterattacks. The first 20 minutes of the match passed without any significant threats to the goal of the two teams. Al Wehda team players tried to advance through the flanks and had several opportunities, one of which almost announced the first goal in the 30th minute, had Al Muladdah club's defence not been able to keep it away.

In the 30th minute, Al Wehda nearly opened the scoring after a series of attacks from the wings, creating several dangerous opportunities. However, Al Muladdah's defence shone, successfully clearing the ball before it could reach the net, resulting in a goalless draw at the end of the first half.

The two teams started the second half with a clear determination to achieve victory, as their insistence appeared through high pressure and repeated attempts to reach the net and score the first goal. During the first five minutes of this half, the two teams exchanged attacks and opportunities, which ignited the atmosphere of the match and increased the enthusiasm of the fans.

But as time passed, Al Wehda succeeded in imposing their control over the course of the game, as their players took possession of the ball and showed a strong desire to score the first goal. After a series of offensive attempts, the team got a corner kick in the 56th minute. Ibrahim al Balushi executed the kick brilliantly, as he rose above all the opposing players and headed the ball powerfully into the net, announcing his team's lead in the result.

Immediately, the coach of Al Muladdah Club responded by making a quick substitution, as he pushed Ahmed al Saadi instead of Mu'ayyad al Garbi in an attempt to strengthen the attack and adjust the result. Indeed, Al Muladdah players advanced forward and put pressure on Al Wehda's defence, and got several dangerous opportunities, most notably a header by Naseeb, but Al Wehda's goalkeeper and defence excelled in stopping it.

Despite the continuous pressure from Al Muladdah, Al Wehda managed to maintain their lead and successfully defend their goal, and eventually came out victorious 1-0, to be crowned with the title and gold medals. Al Muladdah team came in second place and won the silver medals. The Al Qadisiyah team (Ibri) came third to win the bronze medals.

In the individual awards, Al Khadhra team's Ibrahim al Rasbi became the tournament's top scorer with six goals, while Al Muladdah's Al Hussein al Kazerouni was the player of the tournament and Dawood al Kahali from Al Wehda's was the best goalkeeper.
