The National University of Science and Technology is gearing up for a significant milestone with a master plan for its new campus in Sultan Haitham City.
According to the university sources, the model of the master plan is set to be released in October 2024.
The university has secured a plot in the city, allocated by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, to establish a cutting-edge smart campus dedicated to Advanced Technology and Engineering programs.
The master plan outlines a visionary approach to academic instruction, administration, and campus life, aligning with top-tier models of higher education that integrate advanced technology.
Recently, top officials of the university leaders, including Vice-Chancellor Dr Ali bin Saud al Bimani, met with Dr Khalfan bin Said al Shueili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, to discuss the project’s progress.
The meeting highlighted the university’s dedication to delivering a high-quality educational experience through its newly developed Strategic Plan for 2024-30, which emphasizes expansion, quality enhancement, and engagement with national and global priorities.
“The campus, expected to be operational by 2027, will accommodate 3,000 students and 150 staff members. Huawei, a leading global technology company, has been selected as the university’s technology partner for this ambitious project,” Dr Ali al Bimani said.
“In line with Oman Vision 2040 and the university’s commitment to sustainable growth, the new campus is designed to meet Net-Zero targets. This will be the sixth campus of the National University,” he said.
The National University’s College of Medicine has set a benchmark by becoming the first in Oman to earn international accreditation for its MD program from the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Medical Education in March 2024.
Dr Ali al Bimani affirmed the university’s commitment to excellence in education, research, and training, underscoring the institution’s strategic focus on innovation.
