SALALAH: The role of media has become crucial in capturing and conveying the essence of Khareef season. Dr Mohammed bin Saeed Al Shashai, Director General of Media in Dhofar Governorate, who has been at the forefront, has dedicated his expertise towards ensuring the media's portrayal of Dhofar is as authentic and impactful as the season itself.

Recently, Dr Al Shashai undertook a series of inspection visits to various media outlets in the governorate, with a clear focus on enhancing the quality and reach of the media coverage during the Khareef season.

His visit to the radio studio 'Atheer Al Khareef,' located in the historical site of 'Oudat Al Madhi' in Al Saada, was a key part of this initiative. This visit was not just a routine check; it was a strategic move to ensure that the radio programmes broadcast from this studio resonate with the listeners and authentically represent the spirit of Dhofar.

Dr Al Shashai's commitment to quality was further demonstrated through his visits to several TV outlets across the governorate. These visits were aimed at assessing the readiness of the media teams and ensuring that the content they produce is of the highest standard.

The Khareef season, being one of the most significant cultural and tourist seasons in Dhofar, and demands a media presence that is both comprehensive and compelling.

Dr Al Shashai's oversight ensures that the media coverage not only highlights the natural beauty of the season but also captures the cultural richness that defines Dhofar. Dr Al Shashai also extended his gratitude to the Dhofar Municipality and all the relevant authorities for their exceptional efforts in supporting the tourist season.

During his visits, Dr Al Shashai emphasised the responsibility of media outlets to portray the governorate accurately, focusing on its cultural, historical, and natural assets. He acknowledged the hard work of the media teams in covering the events and festivities of the Khareef season, but he also issued a call to action: the need for continuous improvement and innovation in media content.

In alignment with this vision, a diverse array of programmes has been curated to provide comprehensive coverage of the Khareef season. On television, programmes such as 'Al Nas wa Al Khareef,' an award-winning show, offer viewers insights into the various aspects of the season.

'Layali Al-Khareef,' another popular programme, delves into the heritage and cultural traditions that make Dhofar unique.

The radio segment is equally robust, with 'Atheer Al Khareef' leading the way as a cultural, social, and tourist-oriented programme that caters to a wide audience. Additionally, Al Khareef wa Al Shabab' focuses on the youth, highlighting their involvement in the season's activities and events.

In the digital sphere, the 'Ain Platform' provides live streaming of programmes and events, ensuring that those who cannot be physically present can still experience the Khareef season in all its glory. Social media platforms, too, have been harnessed to offer diverse and engaging content that appeals to a global audience.

Through these efforts, Dr Al Shashai and his team are not just providing media coverage; they are preserving the cultural fabric of Dhofar and presenting it to the world. The season, with its blend of natural beauty and cultural richness, serves as a reminder of the importance of media in safeguarding heritage.

Dr Al Shashai’s dedication to this cause underscores the vital role that media plays in connecting people with the cultural and natural treasures of Dhofar.
