SALALAH: The Omani-Arab Investment Forum concluded here on Monday, August 5, 2024, with the adoption of a communique identifying several decisions and proposals for boosting investments and accomplishing the goals of Oman Vision 2040. A large number of investors and economic experts from several Arab nations attended the two-day forum.
Dr Nabil Saeed Ghanem, Vice Chairman of the Organising Committee, said the forum resolved to meet annually in Dhofar Governorate, given its strategic and geographical importance. The annual forum will also be organised as part of the Khareef season events, expanding its appeal and attendance and participation possibilities.
There will be annual sessions to address subjects relevant to the foundations of Oman Vision 2040, which will help to assess progress and achieve targets. The next edition will focus on tourism investments, considering the sector’s importance in sustaining the national economy and diversifying income streams.
Participants also up a number of recommendations meant to improve investment and collaboration between Arab nations. These recommendations included: Speeding up the creation of an air route that connects Yemen and Oman; Quickening the process to launch a direct flight path between Yemen and Oman, to make it easier for travellers and investors to travel; Creating a cooperative bank between Oman and Yemen; Seeking to establish a bank to facilitate and finance investment initiatives between the two nations; Streamlining worker recruitment from Arab nations; and Streamlining investment procedures to increase Oman's appeal as an investment destination.
The Omani-Arab Investment Forum demonstrated a strong desire to further the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and to foster economic cooperation amongst Arab nations. Future forums will be crucial in promoting investments and attaining sustainable development in Oman and the larger Arab world through the decisions and recommendations made.
