SALALAH: The second edition of the Dhofar International Exhibition has provided an impressive platform for the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) to demonstrate its comprehensive range of services and cutting-edge equipment.
Captain Youssef al Mushaykhi, an officer of the Awqad station in Salalah, shed light on the Authority's multifaceted participation in this significant event.
The exhibition is organised into several distinct sections, each highlighting a specific area of the Authority’s operations.
The first section is dedicated to the land rescue team, showcasing an array of devices and equipment used for emergency rescue operations and vehicle fire control. This display underscores the team’s readiness and capability to handle various emergency scenarios efficiently.
Managed by the Civil Protection Department, the second section focuses on enforcing safety regulations in commercial and industrial settings.
Featured in this section are various detectors, early warning systems, fire-resistant doors, and external devices, all crucial for preventing and mitigating potential hazards. The third section highlights the first responders of the rescue team, who handle all types of emergency calls, including thermal and rural incidents.
These rural calls often involve hiking accidents or camel falls, while urban incidents cover a broad range of disasters. The team's versatility and preparedness in managing diverse emergencies are clearly illustrated.
The fourth section is dedicated to the Hazardous Materials Team, which responds to hazardous material incidents across the governorate. This section showcases specialised devices, respiratory equipment, and detection instruments necessary for addressing radiological, chemical, and toxicological hazards. The equipment on display reflects the team’s ability to manage complex and dangerous situations with precision.
Another crucial component of the exhibition is the ambulance section, which presents various medical devices and home ambulance services.
This section highlights the Authority’s commitment to providing prompt and effective medical assistance, featuring a fleet of advanced vehicles designed to respond swiftly to emergencies involving injured individuals.
The water rescue team’s section is particularly noteworthy. This team is responsible for responding to drowning incidents in water bodies, wells, or beaches. The display includes a collection of suits, cameras, and devices used during rescue operations, demonstrating the team’s preparedness and resourcefulness.
Additionally, this section features specialised vehicles and equipment, such as an industrial foam truck with a capacity of 7,000 litres of foam, 5,000 litres of water, 250 kilogrammes of dry powder, and a hose length of approximately 20 metres, essential for effectively tackling water-related emergencies.
The CDAA's participation not only showcases their extensive range of services and equipment but also underscores their unwavering dedication to public safety and emergency response. Through their specialised teams and advanced technologies, they continue to play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being and security of the community.
