From August 4, passengers are advised to arrive early at the Muscat International Airport due to changes in the Passenger Boarding System (PBS) processing times. The cut-off time for passenger processing has been extended to 40 minutes before the estimated time of departure (ETD), up from the previous 20 minutes.
This decision was communicated to all stakeholders through a circular issued on July 23, as part of the airport's efforts to improve efficiency and enhance passenger experience.
Saud al Hubaishi, Chief Operating Officer at Oman Airports and Acting Vice-President of Muscat International Airport, emphasised that arriving on time is crucial to avoid delays in departure.
Passengers are now advised to arrive 4 hours in advance to allow enough time for check-in and other pre-boarding procedures. The new system aims to prevent delays caused by passengers arriving late at the boarding gate. With the extended processing time, passengers can enjoy the airport's facilities without rushing.
The authorities have reviewed the passenger journey to ensure optimal timelines for check-in processes and boarding activities. The new 40-minute processing time applies to all international flights, allowing passengers sufficient time to complete pre-boarding procedures.
This new system will streamline the boarding process and ensure passengers reach their departure gate on time. Passengers are urged to plan their travel accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.
