MUSCAT: Oman's Al Amarat beach soccer team secured a resounding 11-1 victory over Kazakhstan's Malaisary on Friday in the second round of Group 'A' matches at the 2024 Moscow International Beach Soccer Cup.
Oman's representatives, Al Amarat, opened the scoring early in the second minute through Abdullah al Sooty, who capitalised on a brilliant through ball and fired a powerful shot into the net.
Khaled al Arimi came close to doubling the lead with a surprise shot that narrowly missed the post in the fourth minute, following a quick counter-attack. Al Amarat continued to dominate, and in the seventh minute, after a beautiful exchange of passes on the edge of the penalty area, Yahya al Mariki scored the second goal with a precise shot into the far corner.
Al Amarat then won a penalty after being fouled inside the penalty area and converted the spot-kick in the eighth minute to make it 3-0. Despite control of the first half, Al Amarat couldn't add to their lead, and the half ended 3-0.
The second half began strongly for Al Amarat, as Khaled al Arimi doubled the lead in the first minute of the second half with a shot from outside the penalty area following a well-organised attack. His teammate Takumi Yusa followed up with the fifth goal in the second minute, making it 5-0 for Al Amarat. In the fourth minute, Malaisary managed to pull one back through a quick counter-attack. The excitement continued with both teams exchanging chances, and Al Amarat restored their lead through Sami al Balushi in the ninth minute with a shot inside the penalty area, ending the second half with Al Amarat leading 6-1.
At the beginning of the third period, Yunus al Awsi, Al Amarat goalkeeper, scored the seventh goal with a powerful shot from the middle of the field.
Al Amarat continued to pressure their opponents until the sixth minute when Khaled al Arimi scored the eighth goal from a brilliantly taken penalty. Yahya al Mariki then scored the ninth goal in the 9th minute with a rocket of a free-kick that nestled into the net.
At the end of the third period, Sami al Balushi scored the tenth goal from another penalty, and then added another goal after a coordinated attack, ending the match with a resounding 11-1 victory for Oman's Al Amarat.
In the same group of the friendly tournament, Lokomotiv Moscow thrashed Argentina's Boca Juniors 11-4, topping the Group Stage standings of the Moscow International Cup on goal difference over Al Amarat, who finished second. Boca Juniors came in third, and Kazakhstan's Malaysary finished fourth.
