Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a phone conversation this evening with Khaled Meshaal, head of the Hamas movement abroad, expressing his heartfelt condolences and sympathy on the passing of the late Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement.
His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the significant role the late Ismail Haniyeh played in the struggle for Palestinian rights and his steadfast defense of their cause. He emphasized the Sultanate of Oman's unwavering and supportive stance on the Palestinian issue, stressing the importance of continuing efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that ensures the rights of the Palestinian people, with East Jerusalem as their capital.
He also noted that the assassination of the martyr undermines mediation and peace efforts by active parties in the region, pointing out Hamas's willingness to reach a ceasefire agreement.
Khaled Meshaal, in turn, expressed his profound gratitude for the condolences and sympathy extended by the Sultanate of Oman, its leadership, and its people, appreciating Oman's supportive stance towards the Palestinian cause.
