The Ajwaa Al Ashkhara Forum was an opportunity for women of productive families and promoters of SMEs to showcase their products and boost their income.
Such forums, festivals, events and exhibitions in all governorates of Oman have provided means to empower women and preserve the traditional crafts, which are part of Oman’s heritage. Over 75 craftspeople, productive family members, entrepreneurs showcased their products in the forum and found new customers.
Among the most prominent traditional crafts in the forum were palm frond products, kohl, wooden ship models, traditional clothes, olive oil, honey, incense, and perfume.
Abdullah bin Ali al Mukhaini, Director of the Authority of Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED) in Al Sharqiyah South Governorate, highlighted and explained the keenness of the main organising committee of the Ajwaa Al Ashkhara 2 Forum to provide an opportunity for all community groups to enjoy the activities of the forum and to give more privacy to women to take part in the forum. The committee had allocated three days for the forum for women and children.
Accordingly, programmes and events were designed specifically for this category such as competitions and entertainment segments.
