As part of the ‘Edraak’ awareness campaign, the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) is participating in the 'Sports Spark' 2024 event. The CPA, in collaboration with the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, aims to enhance consumer awareness among participants.
This initiative aligns with the Edraak campaign's mission to educate various segments of society about consumer rights and responsibilities, fostering a consumer-friendly environment.
The Sports Spark event, organised by the Governorate of Muscat and the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, is supported by the Omran Group and partnered with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth. The CPA's involvement underscores the importance of integration and partnership among institutions in promoting consumer awareness.
Dr Munira al Fikry, a Media Specialist at the CPA's Communication and Media Department, announced that the Authority's participation will span four weeks, with activities held every Monday morning. The sessions will feature visual presentations, including images and videos tailored to different age groups.
The event will also include competitions and cultural activities designed to educate consumers about their rights and responsibilities while shopping. Participants will learn about prohibited goods, their dangers, and the various forms of commercial fraud, along with the penalties for such offenses.
The campaign aims to enhance social responsibility, ensuring a safe market environment. It also seeks to inform the public about the CPA's services by focusing on three key areas: Promoting a safe consumer culture, identifying commercial fraud and recognising prohibited goods.
