Muscat: Time Magazine has mentioned the Bab al Salam Mosque situated at Seeb in its World's Greatest Places 2024 list.
The magazine describe the mosque as a 'tranquil complex of blush-colored circular structures. An arc of water hugs the central building, while a delicate crescent is etched into the freestanding conical minaret; inside, a dome of over 1,600 crystal bulbs forms a chandelier over the main prayer hall, and in place of a mihrab, a niche that traditionally directs congregants toward Mecca, a slender floor-to-ceiling window is sliced out of the facade."
It is a a minimalist wonder bathed in natural light, leaving visitors to turn their thoughts inward, Time Said.
According to Architecture studio Altqadum, the mosque consists of five rounded forms that have a slight rose hue, informed by the colour of Oman's nearby mountains.
Dubai’s One Za’abeel, Abu Dhabi's Abrahamic Family House, Dar Tantor in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain’s Pearling Path in Muharraq, and the Sharaan Nature Reserve of Saudi Arabia also figure in the list.
