SALALAH: The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority in Oman has published a list of 19 emergency centres with their respective contact numbers established along key land routes leading to Dhofar Governorate where the Khareef holiday season is currently at its peak.

This initiative aims to enhance safety and ensure a swift response to emergencies, providing citizens and residents with quick and efficient access to emergency services.

With the Khareef season now on, attention is drawn to the rigorous preparations undertaken by the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) to safeguard the well-being of citizens and residents. The Khareef season in Dhofar is celebrated for its breathtaking natural beauty, marked by abundant rainfall, which attracts visitors from across Oman and beyond. However, the heightened risk of emergencies requires a high degree of readiness and swift response.

Civil Defence teams operate around the clock to monitor weather conditions and promptly respond to incidents. Preparations include outfitting rescue and ambulance teams with the latest tools and technologies and increasing patrols in mountainous and coastal areas that experience a significant influx of visitors.

The Authority has devised a comprehensive emergency plan encompassing all wilayats of Dhofar Governorate. This plan involves activating emergency centres and deploying field teams in the most vulnerable areas. Specialised teams are prepared to manage floods, landslides, and traffic accidents, ensuring rapid response and minimising damage.

In addition to field efforts, the Authority places significant emphasis on awareness and guidance. Awareness campaigns have been launched through various media outlets and social media platforms to warn citizens of potential dangers and instruct them on how to act in emergencies. These campaigns include advice on safe driving in rainy conditions and avoiding hazardous areas.

The Authority’s efforts rely on close cooperation with various governmental and local entities, including the police, municipalities, and health services.

This collaboration helps coordinate efforts and provide necessary support in emergencies. Engaging local communities is also crucial to enhance awareness and preparedness for emergencies.

The CDAA remains on high alert to ensure the safety of all during the Khareef season in Dhofar. The priority remains to protect lives and property through continuous efforts, ongoing planning, and effective collaboration with all relevant parties.
