Muscat: To nurture cultural cooperation and civilisational exchange, the Omani Women's Association in Muscat has teamed up with the Cultural Attaché of the Iranian Embassy to launch a workshop on engraving and handicraft embroidery. This is the first initiative of its kind.

The collaboration aims to enhance cultural and creative exchanges between nations with historical and cultural ties to Oman. By leveraging diplomatic relationships, the partnership seeks to open broader horizons for interaction with diverse cultures.

Maryam bint Mohammed al Zadjali, President of the Omani Women's Association in Muscat, emphasised the significance of this cooperation.

"Our association aspires to be a leader in social, cultural, and creative domains. The idea for this workshop stemmed from the exceptional creativity of Omani women in handicrafts, which are integral to Omani culture. Our traditional costumes, embodying Omani identity, reflect the civilizational depth of our people," she stated.

The workshop, which runs until Thursday, will see the participation of forty trainees. Expert trainers from Iran will conduct sessions on the art of engraving and embroidery, equipping participants with the skills needed to excel in these crafts.

The Omani Women's Association in Muscat is committed to empower women by enhancing their intellectual, economic, and cultural capacities. This initiative aligns with their broader mission to preserve women's achievements and develop their skills, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to comprehensive development.
