SALALAH: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhofar Governorate Branch, convened an assembly of Omani entrepreneurs for a strategic dialogue with the Chargé d’Affairs of the Royal Thai Embassy to the Sultanate of Oman. The gathering served as a platform to explore promising avenues for bilateral investment and exchange expertise across diverse economic domains.
A focal point of the discussions was the identification of sectors ripe for collaborative growth. Both parties underscored the potential of agriculture and food security, leveraging Thailand’s agricultural prowess to enhance Oman’s food supply chain. Industrial cooperation, particularly in manufacturing and small and medium enterprises, was also deemed a fertile ground for strategic partnerships.
The tourism sector emerged as another area of mutual interest, with Thailand’s experience in eco-tourism and cultural heritage offering valuable insights. The exchange extended to the realm of technology, encompassing information and communications technology, renewable energy, and innovation.
Participants deliberated on strategies to surmount investment hurdles and cultivate an investor-friendly climate in both nations. Streamlining bureaucratic procedures and providing essential infrastructure were highlighted as critical enablers for fostering investment flows.
A keen interest in knowledge sharing was expressed by attendees, with a focus on business administration, marketing, and finance. Joint workshops and seminars were proposed to elevate the competencies of national talent.
Salem bin Ali al Amri, a local Omani businessman, expressed optimism about the meeting’s outcomes, emphasizing the immense potential of Oman-Thailand economic cooperation for driving sustainable growth. He characterized the event as the dawn of a new era in bilateral economic relations and reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to strengthening this partnership.
