SALALAH: The "Omani Honey and Turmeric" exhibition, organised by the General Directorate of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources in Dhofar Governorate, opened on Wednesday at Salalah Grand Mall in Salalah. The exhibition will continue until August 30.


Several farmers and beekeepers are participating in the exhibition with the aim of showcasing Omani honey, its varieties, and other bee products. Additionally, the exhibition aims to motivate and encourage farmers to cultivate turmeric in Dhofar Governorate, as it is a unique crop with added economic value.


Engineer Rashid bin Saeed Al Ghafri, Director General of the General Directorate of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources in Dhofar Governorate, stated that the exhibition coincides with the Dhofar Khareef tourist season. It seeks to highlight the beekeeping and turmeric cultivation sector, encourage beekeepers and farmers, find marketing outlets for their products, and generate economic returns for them.

Beekeeper Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad al Awaed emphasised the importance of participating in the exhibition to learn about new developments and benefit from the experiences of other beekeepers. He noted that their honey products are highly popular among citizens, residents, and visitors to the governorate.


The exhibition provides a platform for local farmers and beekeepers to showcase their products, engage with the public, and exchange experiences. Visitors have the opportunity to taste and purchase the finest honey and turmeric products from the governorate.


The opening of the exhibition was sponsored by Nayef bin Hamid Fadhel, head of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry branch in Dhofar Governorate. - ONA
