In a compact and economical Nissan Versa (Tiida) transformed into a mobile home, Muhannad al Kharusi embarks on adventures across Oman and beyond. This mini caravan, equipped with all essentials, makes each journey unique and memorable. With a luxurious rooftop tent and a side canopy for sun and rain protection, Muhannad’s vehicle is more than just transportation—it's a home on wheels.

Muhannad is not an ordinary traveller. He exhibits determination and resilience, showcasing the art of travel and survival in harsh conditions. His modified car boasts a 100-liter water tank, shower, sink, and a mini kitchen complete with drawers for tools and cooking supplies. A fridge keeps food and beverages fresh, ensuring Muhannad is well-prepared for his adventures.

His journey in the mini caravan began in 2018, exploring and discovering tourist spots in Oman. Reflecting on his travel experiences, he shares, "Every traveller can enjoy their journey with the available tools, no matter how simple. Most of my trips are solo, but I often meet other travelers and adventurers, exchanging experiences and discovering more of nature's beauty."

The concept of travelling in a mini caravan has garnered positive reactions from Muhannad’s followers. "My followers have been a major motivation for me to continue. They tell me, 'You are unique, always discovering new spots for us. Even with a small car, you inspire us to travel."

"I feel joy and pride sharing my experiences and answering my followers’ questions, which has positively impacted their lives,” he added.

Muhannad has travelLed extensively across Oman and has also explored regions in the UAE and northern Saudi Arabia. He plans to continue his journey, discovering the beauty of Oman and reaching several international destinations.

One unforgettable experience Muhannad recalls is camping with friends in a remote area without cell service. After his friends left, he stayed to enjoy the sunset and take photos. When ready to leave, he found his car's tires flat with no spare or repair tools. Stuck in a remote area, he spent a challenging night alone, relying on food supplies to stay calm. The next afternoon, a group of young men passed by and noticed the flat tire. They fixed it in minutes, and Muhannad spent another night with them, forming new friendships. They never knew they saved him that day.

When asked about challenges, Muhannad mentions competition from Jeep owners who love challenging his mini caravan. "They enjoy seeing the mini caravan stuck in the sand, as if it's a competition between caravans and Jeeps! They often invite me to difficult terrains and revel when my caravan struggles. I’ve learned to be cautious about who I travel with.”

Muhannad’s goal is to show that anyone can enjoy traveling with the resources they have without spending excessively. They can save money on hotels and other travel costs while experiencing new adventures and learning valuable lessons. His longest trip was to northern Saudi Arabia, lasting over 20 days. "It was amazing to learn about Saudi culture, explore natural landscapes, and exchange experiences with travelers from different nationalities."

Thankfully, Muhannad has not faced serious injuries or accidents during his travels. He only experienced minor health issues due to changing weather conditions, easily managed with basic medication like Panadol.

Muhannad al Kharusi's adventures in his mini caravan continue to inspire many. His journey embodies the spirit of adventure and the joy of discovering new places and meeting new people, all while living minimally and making the most of what one has.
