As Oman continues to maintain peace as always, gratitude and accolades are pouring in for the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and the military and security services personnel for their incredible work in keeping the country safe while citizens and residents stay in the comfort of their homes.

The police and armed forces continue to courageously serve our country with commitment and sacrifices during difficult times.

Taking the Wadi Al Kabir issue as an example, these brave men quickly resolved the situation within a few hours that resulted in the deaths of five people, the martyrdom of a police officer, and the killing of the three perpetrators, in addition to injuring 28 people of different nationalities.

Among the injured were four individuals, including policemen and Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority personnel, who were performing their national duty.

For this reason, I offer my gratitude for everything these brave men are doing to protect the public.

They do all this while we are in the comfort of our homes. Every single person from ROP and the security forces has been giving up a great deal of their time and have made significant sacrifices because of us. They deserve our appreciation and thanks for not only protecting citizens but also residents.

The recent attack in Wadi Al Kabir shocked many due to its rarity in Oman’s otherwise peaceful context. However, this incident also highlighted the need for more vigilance against emerging threats while underscoring the overall stability that Oman has enjoyed over decades.

Through this column, I will not hesitate to mention that Oman’s foreign policy is characterised by its commitment to neutrality and non-interference in regional conflicts. Oman has maintained an independent stance and has acted as a mediator in several conflicts within the region.

Despite being surrounded by conflict zones, Oman has managed to maintain internal security effectively. The Royal Oman Police and the security forces are well trained and equipped to handle potential threats while ensuring public safety without heavy-handed tactics often seen in other regions.

Also, the diplomatic approach has earned Oman respect from both Western nations and Middle Eastern neighbours alike. The country’s role as a mediator reflects its broader commitment to peacebuilding through dialogue rather than confrontation.

In summary, Oman’s status as a peaceful anomaly in the Middle East can be attributed to its leadership, cultural diversity coupled with tolerance among different sects of Islam, diplomatic neutrality in international relations and effective security measures against threats while maintaining civil liberties.

These factors collectively contribute to making Oman not just a peaceful country but also an inspiring model for conflict resolution and coexistence in a region marred by strife.

Until my next column, I assure everyone that you are in safe hands.
