MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), has announced a new investment opportunity targeting local and international companies and investors. The initiative seeks proposals for establishing and managing specialized tech zones through the Tatwir platform (www.tatwir.om), under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.

Investment announcement 2/2024 focuses on the development and management of a Tech Startup Zone, situated on a 36,233 square meter plot in Airport Heights, Baushar. This strategic location is designated to become a hub for emerging tech companies, providing a conducive environment for innovation and growth. The project aims to attract both local and international investments.

This project is aligned with the National Programme for Digital Economy and Oman Vision 2040, aiming to position the digital economy as a cornerstone of the national economy. The tech zones are designed to attract emerging tech companies from the region, offering a range of incentives to support their growth and international expansion. Investors interested in participating must register as a commercial entity.

The investment process is divided into four stages: the purchase period, where investors can obtain detailed project information; the inquiry period for addressing questions; the bidding and submission period, where proposals are submitted along with any required security deposits; and the award period, where submissions are evaluated and the best offer is selected.

The Tatwir platform will facilitate communication and submission processes, with inquiries handled via WhatsApp or specified email contacts during designated periods. This initiative underscores Oman's commitment to fostering a robust digital economy and attracting international investments.
