MUSCAT: As many as 32,625 academic seats have been offered during academic year 2024-2025 to eligible students in government and private higher education institutions (HEIs).


The number includes scholarships offered by the government for study in local institutions and institutions abroad, in addition to grants provided by private sector establishments and friendly countries.


Ahmed bin Mohammed al Azri, Director General of the Higher Education Admission Centre at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, said that the number of academic seats in government higher education institutions stood at 20,449.


Meanwhile, 11,573 seats were offered through local scholarships and grants in private higher education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman, while the total number of scholarships for study abroad stood at 603.


Al Azri pointed out that new study programmes have been initiated in the context of scholarships abroad and internal scholarships in private higher education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman in various specialisations, including artificial intelligence (AI), sustainable systems engineering, cybersecurity, emergency medical services, visual communication design, port management and sustainable shipping, and business administration in the sub-specialisations of International Business and e-business.


Al Azri added that the period set for amending specialisations will begin on Wednesday and end at 2:30 pm on Sunday 4 August. — ONA
