The completion rate of the project has reached nearly 79 per cent, and it is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.”

He added that the completion rate of the "Harweeb-Al Mazyouna-Miten" road project has reached 15.22 per cent as planned, at a total cost of RO 30 million. He stressed the importance of the road, which extends for a distance of 210 kilometres, in facilitating the flow of traffic between the Wilayat of Al Mazyouna, strengthening social ties, and activating commercial and tourism movement with the rest of the wilayats of Dhofar Governorate.

He also pointed out that the completion rate of the asphalt road network construction project in the Wilayat of Maqshin has exceeded 15 per cent at a total cost of approximately RO 13 million. The project includes the implementation of a paved road with a length of 170 kilometres starting from the centre of the Wilayat of Maqshin, passing through the wilayat’s Mander Al Dhabyan, Al Mashash, and Marsoudd, and the Al Manader and Shajaj areas, and the project ends in the Wilayat of Marsoudd. The project work is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

This will add tourism, aesthetic, and logistical value to the governorate, in addition to the Raysut-Al Mughsail road dualisation project, which has reached the final award stages.

Regarding the Haima-Thumrait Road dualisation project, the Undersecretary indicated that the technical analysis has been completed and work is underway to complete the financial analysis procedures. The project is in its final stages of awarding and implementation, with a length of approximately 400 kilometres.

Through these projects, the MoTCIT seeks to develop the road network in Dhofar and enhance the principle of traffic safety by raising the efficiency of roads in order to achieve a safe and integrated infrastructure that contributes to accelerating development. – ONA
