OOC unveils Oman’s Paris Olympic Games delegation

Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) unveiled the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation for Paris Olympics, which will take place from July 26 to August 11.


Oman’s sports delegation will comprise four athletes including the youngster sprinter Ali al Balushi who will make his debut in the Olympics at the 100 metre event besides sprinter Mazoon al Alawi who will attend her third Olympic Games and will participate in the same competition.


Shooter Said al Khatri will also make his debut at the shooting event of Men’s Trap while swimmer Issa al Adawi will attend for the second successive time in Olympic Games and will take part in the 100 metre freestyle swimming event.


The delegation will be headed by Shaikh Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair, Chairman of OOC. It also includes of HH Sayyid Azzan bin Qais al Said, Vice-Chairman of OOC and Ali al Busafi as Oman’s chef-de-mission.



The news conference was attended by HH Sayyidah Basma bint Fakhri al Said, Taha bin Suleiman al Kishry, Secretary-General of OOC and representatives of the national teams participating in the Olympics.


Taha al Kishry affirmed Oman’s attendance in the Olympic Games to ensure importance of embodying Olympic principles and values, enhancing Oman’s presence in the Olympic Games and reflecting the progress and prosperity of Omani sports.


“I convey to you the greetings and best wishes of the OOC chairman to all athletes participating in this significant event. This Olympic delegation includes four athletes, some of whom are young sports figures participating in the Olympics for the first time, such as sprinter Ali al Balushi and Said al Khatri beside swimmer Issa al Adawi and athlete Mazoon al Alawi.”



HH Sayyida Basma Bint Fakhri al Said delivered a visual presentation on the importance of motivational aspects and psychological guidance before participating in the Olympic Games. She emphasised the importance of athletes’ presence in the Olympic Games, discussed the psychology of success at the Olympics and urged athletes to show high levels of passion, commitment and confidence in their technical abilities. She also highlighted the importance of resilience and determination in recovering from defeat, emotional regulation and attention management. She discussed the impact of sports on mental health and the pride athletes should feel in representing their countries at the Olympics, fostering a sense of belonging and unity during the event.


Ali al Busafi spoke about accommodation of sports delegations and details about the official opening ceremony of the Olympics.
