SALALAH: Dhofar Municipality has inaugurated the ‘Attin Square’ and ‘Return to the Past’ sites to welcome visitors as part of the Dhofar Khareef Season 2024. The two sites, one of several planned by the municipality, aim to offer citizens, residents and visitors new and thrilling experiences. Activities lined up at these venues emphasise cultural, artistic, heritage and entertainment aspects suitable for all age groups.

Ammar bin Obaid Ghuass, Director of Events and Awareness at Dhofar Municipality, said that the 'Attin Square' began receiving visitors this week. The venue features entirely new games, distinct from those in previous years, along with a state-of-the-art digital theatre hosting numerous international performances, including spectacular light shows and laser fountain displays.

He noted that the 'Attin Square' events will run until August 31, showcasing global entertainment and tourism activities, such as drone light and laser shows and the Khareef Garden, which displays a variety of flowers.

Regarding the new 'Return to the Past' location, Ghuass noted that its activities will launch on Thursday, July 18, in the Saadah area of Salalah. This venue, introduced for the first time, recreates traditional life and simulates local environments in the Dhofar Governorate, while also incorporating themes from various Omani governorates.

The event includes traditional arts, heritage markets and diverse products from craftsmen and craftswomen.

He explained that the 'Return to the Past' venue reflects Oman's rich cultural and civilisational heritage, featuring an arena for diverse arts, heritage events, and markets with live performances embodying Omani culture. He emphasised the importance of the event in highlighting national identity, attracting tourists and promoting Omani culture.

Ghuass also mentioned that the 'Kady Time' activities in Awqad Park, Salalah, dedicated to children, commenced on July 1 and will continue until August 31. He detailed that the event includes global entertainment villages for children, an area for interactive games (VR), illuminated models and various restaurants and cafes.
