Footfall to Jabal Akhdar rises by 7%: NCSI

Al Jabal Al Akhdar: The number of visitors to the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate during the first half of this year reached 84,869 visitors, compared to 79,034 visitors during the same period in 2023, an increase of 7.37 percent, according to statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information.


Statistics showed that the number of Omanis who visited the state of Jabal Al Akhdar during the first half of this year reached 34,125 visitors, the number of Saudi tourists reached 3,012 visitors, the number of Emirati visitors reached 566 visitors, the number of Bahraini visitors reached 306 visitors, and of Kuwaiti nationality 563 visitors, while the number of Qatari visitors reached 279 visitors.


Statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information showed that the number of tourists from other Arab nationalities reached 3,700 visitors, and the number of visitors from foreign nationalities reached 42,318 tourists.


The "Green Mountain Summer" events will start tomorrow, Thursday, and will continue until September 14, 2024. It will be held at the Dusit Al Jabal Al Akhdar Hotel, and its activities include many cultural, social, sports, entertainment, heritage and popular activities as part of the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate's plan to stimulate local tourism and promote the tourism, heritage and natural components for which the Al Jabal Al Akhdar State is famous.


The Green Mountain Summer activities also include holding an exhibition for families and small and medium enterprises, to encourage them to participate in the activities and benefit from opportunities to promote tourism and create temporary job opportunities.


It is hoped that the "Green Mountain Summer" events will contribute to attracting a greater number of tourists from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman, and coincide with the second edition of the "Romana" event in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar, which was launched on June 4 and will continue until mid-September, and is part of the agricultural tourism initiatives and projects in the Wilayat.


The event aims to spread the culture of environmentally friendly agricultural tourism, and provide new unique experiences to attract tourists, in addition to contributing to enhancing local added value.


This edition also plays a role in enhancing the agricultural tourism experience for visitors to the Green Mountain, and diversifying tourism offers and products, contributing to enhancing the position of the Green Mountain as a leading tourist, cultural and agricultural destination in the region, and supporting farmers to market their abundant products.


The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is keen to encourage investment in the state of Al Jabal Al Akhdar by attracting projects that contribute to enhancing tourism demand, such as tourist resorts, hotels, rest houses and guest houses, which contribute to enhancing tourism in Al Jabal Al Akhdar and increasing the local community’s benefit from tourism activity


It is worth noting that the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate is one of the most important tourist destinations preferred by many visitors to the Sultanate of Oman during the summer season, due to its moderate climate in the summer and the availability of various hotel facilities. The Wilayat also witnesses an influx of tourists during the summer season to practice various sports such as mountain climbing, hiking in mountain trails and enjoying the moderate weather.
