Muscat: Al Nasr B team secured the first place in the Junior Hockey5s League 2024 after defeating Al Nasr team A with a score of 2-0 in the final match held at the hockey field of Sultan Qaboos Complex in Salalah.
In the second group Ahli Sidab team clinched the first place after defeating Seeb team with a score of 5-0 in the final match held at the hockey field in Al Amerat. Sohar team won the first place in the group C by overcoming Al Nahda team with a score of 6-3 in the final match held at the hockey field of Sohar Sports Complex.
The tournament featured 12 clubs namely Ahli Sidab, Seeb, Al Rustaq, Saham, Al Nahda, Al Salam, Al Nasr, Salalah, Dhofar, Majees, Sohar, and Nizwa.
The league targeted players born in 2006-2007 and was divided into three geographical groups. The group A Clubs from Dhofar Governorate, while group B clubs from Muscat and Al Dakhiliyah Governorates, while Group C included clubs from the Governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Al Buraimi. The clubs competed in a single round-robin system.
Hamad al Rowahi from Al Nasr A was the winner of the top scorer award for group A, the best goalkeeper award went for player Bassam al Saadi from Al Nasr A team, Awadh al Rawahi from Al Nasr team A was crowned best player.
In Group B, the player Saad al Fazari from Ahli Sidab team won the top scorer award, while Issa al Raisi from Seeb team won the best goalkeeper award, Rashid al Alawi from Ahli Sidab team won the best Player award. As for Group 3, Abbas al Nofli from Sohar team won the top scorer award, Asim al Amri from Al Nahda team won the best goalkeeper award, and Nasser al Nofli from Sohar team won the best player award.
In the final match between Ahli Sidab and Seeb, Ahli Sidab took an early lead in the second minute with a powerful shot from Meitham al Wahaibi. Seeb players attempted to push forward in search of an equalizer, but Ahli Sidab's solid defense held them at bay. The match continued with both teams exchanging attacks, but Ahli Sidab managed to extend their lead with another goal from Meitham al Wahaibi from a free kick in the seventh minute. As Seeb's performance declined, Saad scored the third goal for Ahli Sidab before the end of the first half, which ended with a score of 3-0.
In the second half, Ahli Sidab's pressure continued, and Rashid Al Alawi added the fourth goal in the fifth minute of the half. Seeb players continued to struggle to pose any real threat to the opponent's goal, and Meitham Al Wahaibi returned to score his third personal goal and the fifth goal for his team after a well-coordinated tactical move.
Despite Seeb's attempts to reduce the deficit, Ahli Sidab's strong defensive organisation prevented them from doing so. The match ended with a convincing and well-deserved 5-0 victory for Ahli Sidab, crowning them as the champions of the Junior Hockey5s League.
