SALALAH: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has launched an extensive promotional campaign to highlight Oman’s natural beauty and unique attractions. This initiative, timed with the start of the Dhofar Khareef season, aims to boost tourism during one of the country’s most celebrated periods.

As part of the campaign, the Ministry invited a high-level media delegation from Kuwait on a weeklong visit that also underscored the strong cultural and tourism bonds between the two nations.

Over the next seven days, the Kuwaiti media delegation will be immersed in Dhofar’s most renowned sites, including Al Hosn Popular Souq - one of Dhofar’s oldest markets, which offers visitors a chance to purchase antiques, souvenirs, and traditional Omani spices such as frankincense and myrrh, showcasing Omani heritage.

The team will also stop over at Salalah famed ‘Coconut Kiosks’, renowned for their fresh coconuts and a variety of seasonal fruits, including custard fruit, highlighting Dhofar’s agricultural bounty.

Elsewhere in Salalah, the tourists will pause at various places along Salalah’s waterfront, which offers stunning sea views complemented by numerous restaurants and cafes, allowing visitors to enjoy meals with a refreshing sea breeze.

At Haffa Beach Market, the media team has the opportunity to check out traditional shops and various dining options along its pedestrian walkway. Shatti Viewpoint, another stopover, is a favourite among photographers as it offers breathtaking vistas of the sea and surrounding mountains.

Other attractions lined up for the visitors include Al Mughsail Beach, celebrated for its combination of sea and mountain views, natural water fountains, and a scenic walkway leading to the Al Muqayyam Cave; Itiin Mountain, which is ideal for hiking and camping enthusiasts; and Aftilqout, with its temperate climate, scenic views of the ocean, hills, and rocky outcrops, Aftilqout is a haven for nature and adventure lovers.

Away from Salalah, the travel itinerary of the media team takes them to Wadi Darbat with its waterfalls, lakes, and lush vegetation that provide a serene and picturesque setting. At Mirbat, they will check out the historic town known for its traditional architecture, ancient forts, and beautiful coastal views, offering a glimpse into Oman’s rich cultural past. The tour ends with a trip to Jabal Samhan with its dramatic landscapes. Home to the Arabian leopard, this mountain is a prime destination for hiking and wildlife enthusiasts.

Aside from the touristic activities, the delegation will also engage with local officials and journalists, as well as tour companies and travel outfits. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism’s promotional campaign for Dhofar Khareef reflects a strategic vision to elevate Oman’s status as a premier global tourist destination.

By targeting Gulf Arab countries, particularly Kuwait, the campaign seeks to leverage regional connections and cultural affinities to boost tourism.

Through this initiative, Oman hopes to not only enhance its tourism sector but also foster a deeper appreciation of its natural and cultural heritage. As the world becomes more aware of the unique experiences offered by Dhofar Khareef, Oman stands to attract a diverse and growing number of tourists, ensuring that its rich traditions and stunning landscapes continue to be celebrated and enjoyed by visitors from around the world.
