MUSCAT: Sheikh Dr Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidi, Chairman of the General Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, inaugurated last week the smart device application 'Mashareq', for Al Sharqiyah South Governorate, while sponsoring the opening ceremony of the second edition of the Ashkharah Forum.

The application is an integrated digital platform that aims to provide a wide range of electronic and interactive services for citizens and residents of the governorate, and a smart way to access those services provided by the governorate anywhere, with ease.

It’s a distinctive digital experience that meets the daily needs of citizens and residents.

The Al Mashareq platform has multiple advantages. This includes those related to providing integrated electronic and information services, as it allows the user to submit requests, follow them up, obtain permits and licences, and pay bills electronically. This, in turn, contributes to raising efficiency, improving the efficiency of government operations, and saving time.

The effort is for citizens and residents, and to enhance transparency through its endeavour to provide government services and ease of access to information, in addition to ensuring elements of security and privacy, as it provides high levels of security to protect users’ data and ensure their privacy.

The portal contains a number of windows, including one for electronic services, and others to serve customers.

The launch of this application comes within the framework of the efforts made by the governorate to achieve goals of 'Oman Vision 2040', and within the digital transformation programme adopted by the governorate.

The programme also seeks to simplify procedures, raise work efficiency, increase productivity, enhance transparency, expand the base of participation and communication, and strengthen beneficiaries’ confidence in the institution.

Al Sharqiyah South Governorate participated in an awareness and promotional corner with the government and private participation corner. This comes within the framework of the Governorate’s keenness on community participation, building bridges of communication with society, and introducing its implemented and ongoing projects, in addition to highlighting its prominent achievements.

The governorate corner witnessed a large turnout from visitors who viewed its contents, including film materials, electronic programmes, publications, and an interactive introductory space for children.

The supervisors provided the necessary explanations and responded to visitors’ inquiries about various aspects related to the governorate and the services it provides.
