The Ministry of Information, represented by the Directorate General of Information in Dhofar Governorate and its commercial division Izdihar, organized the 3rd Annual Advertising Forum showcasing the different media initiatives and programmes of Khareef Dhofar 2024. The event was held under the auspices of Dr Ahmed bin Mohsen al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, and attended by Dr Mohammed bin Said al Sha’shi, Director-General of Information in Dhofar Governorate.
The forum witnessed the signing of more than 15 media agreements and partnerships to be featured as part of the Khareef Dhofar 2024 season programmes. In addition, a number of governmental ministries and departments were recognized for their unstinting support in enabling the production of these media programmes for tourist season.
During the forum, a visual presentation outlined the key programmes to be broadcast during the Khareef season, including the television program "People and Khareef," which won the Golden Sail Award at the Gulf Radio and Television Festival. This documentary film highlights the tourist sites and Dhofar’s stunning nature during the Khareef season.
Additionally, the radio programme "Khareef Waves" will cover daily activities and events during the Khareef Dhofar season, highlighting the role of Oman Newspaper and Oman News Agency in covering the season’s events through their journalistic coverage and online platforms, as well as through the Ministry's social media accounts. The Ain platform will also cover the Khareef Dhofar season by broadcasting all related programmes and events, promoting them through social media, and offering visual clips showcasing various tourist sites in Dhofar.
Izdihar, for its part, offering prime slots for corporate sponsorship across this comprehensive suite of visual, audio, print and digital channels. Advertisers and sponsors can leverage this extensive platform to reach wide audiences for their products and services. Izdihar presented an overview of its high quality advertising solutions and exclusive services, offering advertisers the opportunity to achieve their marketing goals at competitive prices supported by the Ministry of Information.
Dr. Mohammed bin Said al-Sha’shi, Director General of Information in Dhofar Governorate, emphasized the importance of partnerships between media institutions and partners in the success of advertising and marketing campaigns. By enhancing these partnerships, a greater impact can be achieved, directing joint efforts towards better achieving common goals, and highlighting the importance of collaboration and coordination among participating entities and media to support innovation and creativity in presenting media content.
He pointed out that the agreements signed today affirm the importance of media programs accompanying the Khareef Dhofar tourist season, through which these advertisements will be broadcast. This signifies the careful selection of programs to ensure effective audience reach and maximize the benefit from timing and scheduling to ensure a positive and clear impact of the advertisements.
The 1st edition of the Annual Advertising Forum was held in December 2022, during which the Ministry launched "Izdihar," the first official advertising agency under the Ministry’s supervision, serving as the official link between the advertiser and official channels.
In remarks to the Observer Dr Fatima al Kalbani, Director of Izdihar at the Ministry of Information, explained that the forum will seek to attract the largest number of companies and institutions from both the public and private sectors in a common effort to promote the Khareef Dhofar 2024 season.
Dr Al Kalbani pointed out that one of the main objectives of the forum is to enhance domestic tourism and stimulate tourism activity in various governorates of the country. She emphasised that the ministry is keen on presenting diverse programmes and activities that aim to highlight the country's tourism, cultural, and economic advantages, thus contributing to supporting the national economy and achieving sustainable development.
