Efforts on to make visa services for tourists easier

Muscat: As the tourist season in Oman kicks off, the Royal Oman Police is making significant efforts to support the tourism sector and boost the Omani economy. They are enhancing services by simplifying and expediting the electronic visa system, making it easier for travellers to obtain visas for tourism and work purposes in the Sultanate of Oman.

There are various types of visas available to cater to different categories of travellers, including a tourist visa for employers, a tourist visa for residents of GCC countries, and a tourist visa for non-employers.

Visa applications are processed promptly as long as they are complete and accurate. It is advisable to submit your application at least four days before your intended arrival in Oman. Processing times may vary depending on the specifics of each application. The system also specifies usage periods for visas post-issuance, such as one month for express visas, three months for visas with a local employer, and one month for visas without an employer.

The Royal Oman Police website notes that after submitting the application, paying the fees and verifying the data's accuracy, a copy of the visa will be sent electronically to the registered e-mail. It’s important to note that payment does not guarantee automatic visa issuance.

An officer from the Royal Oman Police informed the Observer that the electronic visa system has been expanded to include sponsored tourist visas and express visas, facilitating immediate visa completion through the Royal Oman Police website. This electronic system marks a significant shift in service provision, aligning with the strategic objectives of the Royal Oman Police to enhance and streamline services.

For any inquiries, travellers can contact the call and assistance centre. The centre has been activated to provide support and answer questions via the phone numbers listed on the website and through e-mail, ensuring prompt responses to all queries.
