SALALAH: The Environment Authority in Dhofar Governorate is initiating a week-long tree planting campaign as part of a major environmental conservation drive from today. The initiative, which aims to increase green cover and promote environmental responsibility, will involve the planting of 10,000 local trees around the governorate.
The Environment Authority is leading the campaign in partnership with Dhofar Municipality, the Directorate General of Culture and Youth, and the Oman Telecommunications Company. This collaborative endeavour emphasises the value of a coordinated approach to environmental sustainability.
"The Environment Authority's steadfast dedication to improving Dhofar's natural environment is demonstrated by this extensive tree planting campaign," an Environment Authority spokesperson said. "We encourage all residents and visitors to participate in this initiative and contribute to a greener future for our beloved governorate."
The weeklong programme provides an excellent opportunity for the Dhofar people to engage in environmental stewardship. Residents are encouraged to take part in the planting activities and learn more about the need of protecting the region's unique environment.
Following the Environment Authority's major campaign, which culminated last week and saw a significant 4 million seeds distributed throughout Dhofar, comes this tree planting initiative. These continuous initiatives show how committed the authorities is to halting desertification and advancing biodiversity in the governorate.
