National Museum hosts 'Palestinian Melody' event in solidarity with Palestine

MUSCAT: The National Museum in collaboration with Sayyidah Wafa bint Hilal al Busaidiyah, a specialist in clinical psychology organised on Thursday the 'Palestinian Melody' event, as an expression of love for the brotherly Palestinian people.


The event was attended by Dr Taysir Farhat, the accredited Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Sultanate of Oman, as well as several Highnesses, excellencies, distinguished guests, a group of visual artists, musicians, and those interested in cultural and artistic affairs.


Sayyidah Wafa bint Hilal al Busaidiyah, a specialist in clinical psychology, in her speech, explained that the event is a cultural and humanitarian solidarity initiative reflecting the good relations between the two peoples.


It aims to show support and solidarity, highlight Palestinian heritage and culture, and convey messages of peace and justice, reaffirming the Palestinian people's right to freedom and independence.


The event included a variety of cultural and artistic segments featuring students and Omani musicians, in collaboration with the Department of Educational Supervision at the Ministry of Education.

Highlights included a poem titled ‘Message to a Child in Gaza’ written by Sayyidah Wafa bint Hilal al Busaidiyah and recited by student Waad bint Mohammed al Hadhabiyah, and the song ‘Mawtini’ performed by students from Muscat Governorate schools accompanied by a group of musicians including Tahira bint Jamal al Balushiyah, Nabras bin Youssef al Mallahi, Jaifar bin Mohammed al Nadabi, Abdullah bin Juma al Farsi, Yahya bin Rashid al Jabri, Mahmoud bin Ali al Balushi, Taj bint Mohammed al Balushiyah, and Nourhan Qadri Saad Ali.


Poet Youssef bin Abdulqader al Kamali also recited his poem titled ‘The Call to Prayer from Al Aqsa.’ The event featured a musical piece titled ‘Melody from Oman’ performed by the musical band, and the song ‘Meel Ala Baladi’ performed by the musical band and student Ruqaya bint Mahmoud Awlad Thani with the choir.


The event also included a video titled 'Palestine Concerns Us,' with participation from prominent Omani figures, the creation of a Palestine mural by children, and a tour to view the art auction paintings with participation from senior Omani visual artists and designers.


The auction profits will go to the people of Gaza, supervised by the Oman Charitable Organisation (OCO), and there was also a Palestine Corner to introduce the history, culture, and symbols of Palestine.
