Muscat, July 2

Sayyid Saud bin Hilal al Busaidy, Governor of Muscat, presided over the opening of the 'DotNext Jadeer' programme’s fourth pioneering technical camp.

The programme aims to build the capabilities of Omani cadres in the field of technical entrepreneurship and qualify graduates of higher education to keep pace with the needs of the labour market by developing work skills in entrepreneurship and self-employment.

An elite group of Omani youth will participate in the camp and will receive specialised training in several fields including artificial intelligence, finance, investment, entrepreneurship, leadership and creative industries.

The programme contributes to bridging the gap between educational outcomes and the labour market and honing the skills of job-seekers. The programme achieved remarkable success during the four years during which it was held, as 40 per cent of the program’s members were employed, in addition to the establishment of 10 companies.

Yousef bin Ahmed al Ibrahim, Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Skills at Awj Al Ibtikar Company, said: “Since its launch, the Jadeer Programme has achieved exceptional success, as it has contributed to developing the skills of more than 1,950 members and established more than one pioneering technology idea, some of which have become successful companies today, supplying the Omani market.”

"We place incubating and nurturing national talent at the top of our priorities to contribute to achieving Oman’s Vision 2040 for economic diversification, and through the Jadeer programme, we provide the opportunity for creative Omani youth to showcase their ideas to the world and support them in developing them to enhance the growth and development of the modern technology sectors and bridge the gap between graduates," he added.

Jassim bin Mohammed al Alawi, a government employee and graduate of a Bachelor of Business Administration affiliated with the Jadeer Programme for the Year, said the programme added to a high ability to deal properly with the work environment, officials, and colleagues through the leadership and entrepreneurship workshop and other workshops, which made him one of the good employees in a short period of time.

Aisha bint Jassim al Ghailaniyah, a laboratory technician in the central public health laboratories, said,"This is my first participation in the Jadeer programme.

An exceptional experience that enabled me to see the impossible as possible! An experience that taught me how innovation is created by deriving values from ideas and realising them while contributing to granting the Sultanate of Oman global technical sovereignty."
